In his book, “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, Steven Covey pointed out a habit one must have – the ability to put first things first in life.

What you must first discover as a man is not your passion, whom to marry or what you love to do. It is knowing why you are here – God’s purpose for your life. When God created Adam, He gave him what to do first. After the fall, Adam began to do what he wanted in life.

Do you know that life does not begin at age forty as it is commonly said. It begins when you have realised why you are here and you are doing everything to fulfill it. But when you fail to pursue what matters most, you will abuse the essence of life.

When you know why you are here, everything else would follow. Jesus said, “seek you first the kingdom of God and all other things shall be added to you”. When you seek His kingdom and you are part of it, He will provide other things you need.

Do not pursue whom to marry or career advancement when you do not know why God has created you. God will not applaud you because of what you choose to become in life, He will commend you for doing what He has destined you to be.

Once you have established your priority in life, it will guide you on whom to marry, what to give your best to, whom to associate with, what to do in life and knowing your part to play in life.

More so, to discover it, be born again. Pray until He reveals it to you. And once you have known it, set it in your priority list in life. Then, starve your distractions and feed your focus. However, what makes God commend you is when you do what He has destined you to fulfill in life.
