Spoken Word
It’s midday, and an elite group of Spoken Word Ministers have come together in a hall with air-conditioning blowing torrents of cold air.
Under the influence of the intense cold, they adjust their composure and birth an inspiring compilation of poems.
It’s COLD and these lines will give you a chill. Beware‼
Christians of fire
Quite ironic to what we are now
Neither lukewarm nor hot are we
Rather, shivering with the breeze of sin
Now frozen we are, dead cold in Christ
Chinaza Okafor
As frozen as you can be, you are also tender
When you are mixed with your adversary
It is a lovely blend of frost and heat
But one question
Are you an enemy or friend of the Holy Ghost?
Tantolorun Omotayo
I will spit out of my mouth
He who is neither hot nor cold
You’re either for me, or against me
If you are hot, you belong to me and I will make you more than a conqueror
If you are cold, you are against me and who can win against the Almighty?
Oluwatobi Afolabi
Cold and freezing emotions
Feelings are almost nil, becoming extinct
We have stopped giving compassion
As we sometimes forget how to receive
That soft and golden warmth from His throne
Feranmi Ogundipe
Blue and frosty, was the description of my heart
Life’s challenges caused this, trying to justify my part
But then, I was told that wasn’t enough reason to be cold
Just like winter, everything around me was frozen cold
But I still try to keep my faith alive and hopefully, I’ll make it to the summer bold
Bolutife Adeyiga-Ositelu
Caught in betimes of winter
Opportuned to hide but no mind
Lots of shivering and giggling
Do! do!, da! da! remained my words like a drowning man
Cold
Adeyemi M. Adetunji
The sound of the breeze scares
The whisper of the leaves threaten
I wonder if I could go to face these
My body is stuck underneath my duvet
But I need to be at work…
Ibiremilekun Ibikunle
Cold
Some say it’s gotten as a result of low temperature
Some say it’s a feeling of fear
Some say it’s nervousness but in one word it’s called cold
That feeling that leaves you shivering
Lawrence Acha
Cold
Feeling so cold and droning
Can’t feel my hands and feet
Shaky yet still standing
I need warmth from this blanket
Bukola Fulani
I said it only once
As goose bumps broke out on my skin
He took a long stare at me
He saw me exhale and curl up
He stood up and turned off the AC…, I win
Darasimi Oriola
Cold held on to him with sympathetic hands
He lay in cold blood
His blood stepped on tarred road
His eyes guarded heaven’s gate
That fateful day, Eze never went to school
