John Graham Lake was born into a family of 16 children on the 18th of March 1870 in Ontario, Canada. He was born by healthy parents but the spirit of death and infirmity gripped 8 of his siblings and they died of illness.

Lake got married to Jennie Stevens on February 5, 1893. Jennie was a perfect match for him. She had a sense of humour, keen judgment, a strong faith in God and a deep spiritual sensitivity. They were blessed with 7 children.

Lake got into the healing ministry on a certain day when God used him to perform the healing of his wife who was dying of tuberculosis at about 9:30pm that day. The news of his wife’s healing spread abroad and he began to get invitations to heal people with diseases. More so, after his baptism in the Holy Ghost, his healing ministry took a greater dimension. Lake’s healing ministry spread further as he embarked upon his missionary work in Africa (Johannesburg). He and his wife became a team in ministering healing to the sick – Lake would pray and some would get healed. Then Jennie would discern the cause why some were not healed; and Lake would pray again for their healing. At Lake’s return to America, his ministry had produced 1250 preachers, 625 congregations and 100,000 converts with miracles too great to number.

Lake died on September 16, 1935 after suffering from stroke at the age of 65.
