Smith Wigglesworth was born on June 8, 1859 in Menton, Yorkshire, England. He was the son of John and Martha Wigglesworth. His parents were poor and this made him start work early in life at the age of 6. In 1882, Smith married Jane ‘’Polly’’ Featherstone at the age of 23 while she was 22 years.

Smith’s encounter with divine healing led to an exponential growth of his ministry based on the truth he discovered. More so, his ministry took another leap when he stood in place for a minister in Leeds healing home. The miracles he performed boosted his ministry coupled with the full baptism of the Holy Ghost he had. His ministry grew further when he received a double portion of power after his wife’s death and also when he learnt a new lesson on faith – faith could be created and transferred into the life of another and that faith could be acted upon, simply on the Word of God. He had another revelation that true faith confronts and is ignited by initiative. With repeated demonstration of these revelations, Smith launched into his international ministry.

Smith had a hunger for the Word of God and he read the Bible only; he also had compassion for people. He disciplined himself to be a student of the Word in that he would always take a bit from it at intervals. He wanted people to see Jesus and himself.

Smith Wigglesworth died peacefully on March 12, 1947 after God granted him another 15 years when he asked, having conquered kidney stone disease.
