Text: 2 Chron. 7:14
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (KJV)

Invitation to Scriptural Prayers:
This acts as a sequel to the first part of the teaching which was on humility. Without further ado, we delve right in. What is prayer?
Prayer is:

  1. Communion between an individual and their deity.
  2. Requesting something from a higher authority.
As we all know, prayer isn’t restricted to Christianity alone. Virtually all religious persuasions pray. However, as touching the invite to scriptural prayers, it is the church-the spiritual Jew, reconciled to God through Jesus- that pray to God, and not the gentiles (who regard God as the Creator), nor the Jews (who see God not only as the Creator but also, the God of the Abrahamic covenant.)
    What then are scriptural prayers?
  3. Prayers that teach men to daily depend on God.
  4. Prayers offered by born again Christians in the name of Jesus (Phil. 2:9).
  5. Prayers influenced by the right application of the scripture
  6. Prayers of the heart and not just the lips (1 Sam.1:13).
A heart that would pray scripturally must be a hungry, trusting, and fearing heart. The absence of any of these three is an indicator that the prayer offered isn’t scriptural. Prayer is mysterious and its awesomeness lies therein. Some things cannot be cured scientifically but can be cured prayerfully. All things need prayer!

The template for prayers:
As given by Jesus is in Lk.11:1-4, a template for prayers is as follows:

  1. Fellowship: God is only a Father to born again Christians (Lk. 11:2). If one isn’t born again, then one is not known of God. As such, it would suffice to say there is no basis for one’s prayers.
  2. Praise: We hallow God through sincere praise (Lk. 11:2). When we praise Him, He raises us.
  3. Prayers to enforce God’s will: The matters of the Kingdom must continually be established (Lk.11:2).
  4. Prayer of requests (Lk. 11:3).
  5. Prayer of repentance (Lk. 11:4).
  6. Prayer of acknowledgement: Our dependence on God must be acknowledged daily. (Lk. 11:3, Psa.68:19).

In addition, we must pray for His kingdom, pray intercessory prayers, pray for those in high levels of authority, both in the church and in the society at large. We must also pray warfare prayers (Eph. 6:12).

The Basis for MFM’s Prayer:
MFM is a church that subscribes hugely to warfare prayers. Our signature approach is the tried and trusted ‘fall-down-and-die’ prayer. Biblically, to ‘fall-down-and-die’ is to:

  1. Separate a spirit from a medium (Gen. 2:17).
  2. Pray with audacity as indicated by our ‘what are you waiting for?’ authoritative line.
  3. Activate (Eccl. 10:8) This justifies our ‘back-to-the-sender’ approach.

I pray for you, that any fellow that doesn’t want to see you alive, shall expire before January expires in the name of Jesus.

Classes of prayer:
There are two classes of prayer namely:

  1. The Secondary class: This embodies all manner of prayers in which one asks, seeks and knocks. (Matt. 7:7)
  2. The Tertiary class: This embodies all prayers activated by virtue of automation (Isa. 64:25).
I pray for you after the order of Isa. 64:25, before you ask, God will answer: before you speak, God will appear in Jesus’ name.

Some Scriptural prayer verses:

  1. Redemption (Gal. 3:13).
  2. Hope (Mic. 7:8).
  3. Prosperity & Health (3 Jn. 1:2).

Prayer Points:

  1. Any spirit of Kadeshbarnea, operating in any department of my life, fall down and die in the name of Jesus.
