Text: 1 Timothy 4:1-2

By the grace of God we started a series last week which is our main focus for this month and we’d faithfully continue in it.

As a result of matter of necessity, it is pertinent for we Christians to pay attention to our conscience because if we don’t, the devil lurks around and might prey on our carelessness.

WHAT IS CONSCIENCE?
1. It is the voice inside one that differentiates right from wrong.

2. It is our moral awareness or moral consciousness that God has input in us.

3. It is the internal voice that sits in judgement over ones will or their life choices.

4. It is the faculty within us that testifys to His standard.

5. It is the requirement of the law of God written on our hearts. It basically is our spiritual compass.

6. It is the prophetic ministry of one’s inner man.

THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN TO CONSCIENCE
As is so often the case with entities that can be affected, our conscience can:
1. Become defiled (Titus 1:15)
2. Become evil (Hebrew 10:22)
3. Be seared (1 Timothy 4:2)
4. Be wounded (1 Corinthians 8:12)
5. It can be dead.
6.It can be polluted.
7. It can be corrupted.

DO YOU DESIRE TO CHECK THE HEALTH OF YOUR CONSCIENCE?
Then, these are the banes to watch out for:
1. Recognize that keeping malice is a sign that one’s conscience is faulty.

2. Feeling no remorse whatsoever after one is exposed to pornography, or sexual immorality of all sorts is a sign of a dead conscience.

3. An Unforgiving spirit, a fraudulent disposition, also finding convenience in lying are signs of a malfunctioning conscience.

THE GOD KIND OF CONSCIENCE:
The type of conscience that God want us to have according to the book of the Acts 24:16 are the following:
1. A pure conscience.
2. A conscience that’s void of offence.
3. A clear conscience
4. A conscience that is washed in Jesus’ blood.

DESIRE A PURE CONSCIENCE? Then,
1. Seek repentance (Act 2:38)
2. Seek restitution.

3. Plead the blood of Jesus (Hebrew 10:22)
For one’s conscience to be whole, they need the cleansing power in Jesus’ blood.
4. Baptism of the Holy Spirit and Fire.
5. Constant exposure to the word of God (Hebrew 4:12).

6. A fervent Prayer
life
7. A firm resolve to obey God.

In conclusion,
God being a loving Father wants us all to have a clear conscience at all times so that we can commune with him easily, and engage in guiltless fellowship with him.
