Happy Sunday Church and happy new week.

In line with the redemptive work of Christ and the youth repositioning vision He has given our Father in the Lord, we’d be debunking some myths on drug abuse today and addressing pertinent issues that could help free the trapped, and encaged.

What is Drug Abuse?
Drug abuse simply means the consumption of illegal drugs, the misuse of legal or prescription drugs.

What is a Myth?
A myth is a common misconception or a false belief about a phenomenon or thing shared within a culture. It ranges from half-truths to outright lies. Dear friend, myths are satanic. (Jn. 8:32, 8:44).

Sources of Myths:
Friends, social media, TV, movies, music are some (not all) of the avenues that has made myths pervasive in today’s world.

Causes of Drug Abuse:
Pulled by desires, pushed by peers, many youths are rendered defenseless against mounting pressures in a bid to gain societal approval and peer acceptance.

  1. Wrong orientation.
  2. Poor education.
  3. Instant gratification.

Common Myths on Drug abuse:
Since myths are defective, familiar biblical verses that could enlighten, serve to correct and fortify against pressures have been carefully compiled and attached to these myths.

  1. Minimal or occasional abuse isn’t bad. (Gal. 5:9).
  2. It is confidence-boosting, it also offers inspiration (Job. 32:8).
  3. It helps me forget my sorrows. (Psa. 30:5b).
  4. I’d be labelled as weak, without balls and a slacker. (Prov. 1:10).
  5. Once you’re addicted, that’s the end. (1 Tim. 2:4).

Beloved Christ died for you and He wants you to turn to Him today and forsake wrong living ways. (Jn. 3:16).
