The song, ‘The Lord’s Presence’, by Moses Allison and Deborah Marcus is a timely release that serves as an assuaging tonic for the ailing hearts of this beloved country. It is no longer news that Nigeria has been plagued with so many troubles across major sectors in recent times.

Heartbreaking stories of kidnapping, banditry, receding economic growth amidst pockets of industrial actions, looting, and destruction that now plague the country fill the conspicuous portions of daily news bulletins. A peaceful and reposeful society is becoming a story of the past, with citizens now on the lookout for a saviour who will pull them out of these plights.

This song serves as a suitable reminder to Christians—and Nigerians at large—that there is peace and comfort in the Lord. His presence begets calm and harmony. The Bible records in 2 Corinthians 3:17 that, “…where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Nigeria needs the sovereign presence of God to break free and enjoy divine liberation from end-time troubles. If the mountains melted like wax in the presence of the Lord, then nothing can withstand our God when He moves over the domains of this country.

This is in consonance with the third verse of the song as prophetically declared by the writer, “Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting, nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shall call thy walls Salvation and thy gates Praise” (Isaiah 60:18). By implication, God is not a man who reneges on His words; He keeps to His words, and in a matter of time, violence in the form of terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping shall cease.

Just as Jesus Christ said in Matthew 11:28, we implore everyone to come to the presence of God where rest and help are guaranteed. As you listen, meditate and enjoy this divinely inspired single, we pray that not only shall the glory of God dominate the quadrants of Nigeria but it will fill your life as well through Christ Jesus. Amen.
