Sex can be likened to a double-edged sword. When done the right way, it brings numerous benefits. However, engaging in ungodly acts, such as premarital sex, can become a thorn in the flesh destroying an individual.

God’s plan for sex is that it should be enjoyed within the confines of marriage (Proverbs 5:18-19). When this is the case, the fruits of the relationship are blessed. However, when sex is performed outside the confines of marriage, it brings about pain and regrets, attracts curses, and increases the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as HPV, gonorrhoea, etc.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV): Research shows that most people who contract this infection are in their late teens or early twenties.

Facts about HPV:

  • It is spread by sexual contact.
  • It can be managed medically, but it cannot be cured.
  • It can be a chronic condition that lasts for years or even a lifetime.
  • Sometimes it only starts manifesting years after having sex with an infected person.
  • Even though condoms can lower the risk of infection, areas not protected by condoms can still be easily infected.
  • HPV is responsible for over 95% of cervical cancer cases.

Gonorrhoea: Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Gonococcus. The bacteria can also infect the entrance to the womb (cervix), the tube that passes urine out of the body (urethra), the rectum, and, less commonly, the throat or eyes.

Conclusion: Sex is presented to us, just as Moses presented the options of life or prosperity and death or destruction to the children of Israel. If the rules are followed, it comes with life and prosperity. It is best to choose life and the blessings that accompany it.
