Looking through history, there are three dispensations. The first was the dispensation of the Father. The Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit were present but never dominant in this – Genesis 1:28. The second was in the New Testament where Jesus was dominant, and the third dispensation presents this current time where the Holy Spirit is dominant. The Holy Spirit does not carry any human body, but its physical presence can be felt – Acts 2:18.
The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity. God expresses himself in three different entities, offices and personalities. God the FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT. The Holy Spirit operates with symbols – like Fire, Wind or a Dove.
As noted earlier, in the course of transitioning from the second to the third dispensation, Jesus said he would send another comforter who will teach us all things. If you know all things, you can’t be average.
As humans, we carry emotions; and in the days of Jesus, when there were issues, He went personally to help and comfort them. As he was going, He said “… I’ll send you a comforter. He will strengthen and teach you all things” This shows that there are some battles we cannot win if we do not carry the Holy Spirit.
Life ordinarily is a circle of problems. You need the Spirit of God in all ramifications: your career, education, marriage, in every area of your life. The spirit of God is the joy of life. What are you carrying?
Functions of the Holy Spirit
1. He is our helper Matthew 4.
2. Our sanctifier
3. Empowers us to do the Father’s will.
4. Helps us to pray right
5. Guides us to all truth
How to activate the Holy Spirit
1. Genuine salvation
2. Constant fellowship through the word – 2 Timothy 3:16.
3. Walk in the spirit.
4. Total obedience to the word of God
5. Open identification with God
