Things about tongues
- The Holy Spirit gives you utterance by downloading the words into your spirit. You will wait to receive your own utterance from the Lord, as a result, the Holy will download the language into your spirit, and not your brain. After this, the power of God will move upon your vocal organ. Yielding your spirit at this point will make you speak in tongues. Acts 2: 4 – “… as the Spirit gave them utterance…”
- Speaking in tongues is a mysterious communication between man and God. Speaking in tongues under the influence of the Holy Spirit makes you communicate with God and not to man.
- Speaking in tongues can happen while listening to God’s words. Acts 10:44 – “… the Holy Ghost fell on them which heard the word…” While Peter was preaching the Holy Ghost fell on those that were hearing Peter. Vs 46 – After the Holy Ghost fell on them, they heard them speak in tongues.
Things about Prophecies
- The Holy Spirit empowers you to speak without fear or constraints – 2 Peter 1:21. A prophet is always bold because when he speaks, he speaks under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
- Prophecy edifies the church. You speak in tongues, you edify yourself but prophesy edifies the church.
- Prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. Revelation 19:10. When someone is prophesying, he is speaking the Word of God, and this is the testimony of Jesus.
- When God’s word burns in you, the more you try to hold it back, the more it explodes. Jeremiah 20:9
