“Life is unfair”, so they say.
I didn’t give birth to myself,
God brought me to this world to serve.
Why then do I have to go through this pain?
I have toiled so much but all to no gain.
My world is laced with sorrow, futility and depression
Oh! I am so afraid, when will I be free from this oppression?
My soul cries out every day, seeking solution
But everywhere I turn, I’m faced with rejection
What is it with me?
When do I get to be free?
My peers, they all seem to be making it without struggle,
But each time I climb the ladder, I end up in a tumble.
Where art thou O! fame?
Why hast sorrow graced my name?
I thirst for a fountain flowing with blessed waters
I am in desperate need of a miracle
I look up to God; my eyes are filled with tears.
I only have four requests to drown all my fears:
“O that thou would’st bless me indeed,
And that thou would’st enlarge my coast,
And that thine hand might be with me,
And that thou would’st keep me from evil.”
Oh! what a wonderful glorious day!
I look around me, no more dismay
My smile radiates like the shining sun
I know God has remembered me through his son.
Today I am no longer shy,
Because I offered my Jabez’s cry.
