Spoken Word Beacons

Anthology of poems on “WORD” was written to commemorate the 2019 World Poetry Day.

From cradle we get a tha!
Every sound made sense at least to one person
Letters were pronounced
Letters came together and then we get a word
The only one thing that gives a direct message, word!

We all have our ways with words –
Either spoken or written,
Either straight forward or puzzling.
As long as the message is delivered,
Every letter is a symbol,
Signed with a signature
Unique to our style of how we do poetry.

I am a language that unites,
Same as swift to destroy
I can penetrate deep thoughts without magic
I, also invent
Who am I if not the result of every tongue
You are your word more than you are you!

The twenty-six alphabet letters are my closest friends
They understand me so much without me even saying a word
Sometimes I wonder what I’m doing with so many friends
People laugh at me and say I’m kinda odd
But little do they know my life’s essence is dependent on these guys that make up words.

Alphabets lay side by side to create you.
You are the soul of communication.
You are God’s first voice of creation.
Let. There. Be. Light.
That’s the raw power of God in every word
