John 15:4-5

Vs 4: Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches:

Vs 5: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

For the next 3 Sundays we would be going through this series of teaching.

Objectives of this teaching

1. For us to know that without the help of the Holy Spirit, you can achieve nothing.

2. Remind you of the things that you know but have abandoned.

3. To prepare our mind for the prophetic agenda, what the lord has in store for 2020.

4. To know what you stand to gain, benefits of intimacy of the Holy Spirit. We are in a value driven environment and before people are committed to things, they would like to know what they stand to gain.

5. To ignite our passion and pursuit for the Holy Ghost.

There are certain things that you need to know about the Holy Spirit before you cultivate intimacy with him;

1. He is a person. You need to relate with him as a person to the point that you ask him for questions and for anything. “Holy Spirit, what can I wear today?”

2. The Holy Spirit is omnipresent. You can call upon him anytime and anywhere.

3. He is a comforter, encourager. “Holy Spirit you are my encourager, please encourage me.”

4. He is a teacher, an instructor 1 John 2:27

When you cultivate intimacy with Him;

1. He will warn you in advance of possible dangers. It now depends on you to listen and obey. Acts 9

2. He will become your personal protector, your CSO, your body guard.

3. You will realize that He can be grieved by wrong conversation and conduct. You must be careful about your conversation this year because he knows your motive even if you are insincere. Eph 4: 29-32

Vs 29: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Vs 30: And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Vs 31: Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Vs 32: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

A lot of people speak in tongues but the Holy Spirit has left them. When he wants to enter into your life, he will announce himself but by the time he steps out, you will be unaware. He will sneak out quietly.

In Phil 4:8

Vs 8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Before you engage in that conversation ask yourself for these things. Is it true just, honest, lovely and praiseworthy?

In your conduct as well because the Holy Spirit will never tell you to wear a dress that will reveal your cleavage or wear jeans that will show your underwear. Hos 5:15

Vs 15: I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

If you don’t acknowledge that you have wronged the Holy Spirit, he will leave you. In 2020, understand that you conversation and conduct can grieve the Holy Spirit. Watch what you say about the Leadership of the church, yourself and people around you. Whatever you say and can’t repeat it around the person is gossip, it means you are are gossip and a coward.

In 2020, the Holy Spirit will not depart from you and if peradventure his presence has left and you are not aware, mercy of God will bring back his presence in Jesus name.

Your motives are continuously monitored and evaluated. It is your motive that will be rewarded. Men look at the face but God looks at the heart. Is your motive pure? 1 Sam 16:7

Vs 7: But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

People that dress seductively have a dirty heart and there is a motive behind it.

Prayer points

Holy Spirit help me not to disappoint you this year.

Lord, give me a pure heart in Jesus name.

Holy Spirit divine, this year have your way in me.
