The year 2020 is, undoubtedly, unlike any we have witnessed in recent years – even decades. The entire world is brought to a standstill; churches closed, schools shut, diverse markets banned and even gatherings of more than two people prohibited in some places.

With an atmosphere of dread almost tangible in many cities around the world; some have even taken to asking where God is at the moment. Many of us certainly didn’t see this coming at the beginning of the year, yet should we react as the circumstances we are faced with dictates? No is the answer!

Instead, I believe this period to be an excellent time to remind ourselves of the countless promises of protection our God has made to us his children. In moments where all hope seems lost, our God and father has constantly reminded us that faith and courage is what he wants us to have. Just as he reminded the Israelites before their sojourn into the land of Babylon, he’s saying to you now

“Dear, I know the intentions I have for you, Intentions of good and not evil, Just so you will have a hope and something tangible to look forward to”

JER 29:11 –Paraphrase

In the same vein as well, I’m reminded of God’s constant reassurance to the army general, Joshua, as he prepared to face the people of Jericho. In those difficult times, God’s words to him were full of assurance and encouragement. Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Three times, the instruction to not fear but be courageous and full of faith was given to Joshua: victory was already sure; he just needed to believe God’s words to him. Many other faithful men in scripture also faced impossible moments: times it seemed like there was no way out – yet they overcame through a resilient faith and trust in God’s ways.

From Abraham in the wilderness to Joseph in the land of slavery, from Joshua before the wall of Jericho to David before Goliath the giant – our God has always surpassed our imaginations. 1 Cor 2:9.

Our good Father always vindicates his faithful children, rest assured that He isn’t about to stop with us. He’ll hide us and secure our deliverance always, rejoice and be glad. Psalms‬ ‭32:7-8, 10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Vs 7: Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

Vs 8: I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Vs 10: Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.

Vs 11: Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.”

Shalom.
