Joshua 1:8 says: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
In Continuation of this series we started last Sunday “Experiencing God”. Last Sunday our focus was experiencing God through the lifestyle of obedience to the voice of God.
Key words from last Sunday:
1.When you make God’s business your own business God will make you His own business and project.
If you are not ready to take or obey instructions from God you are not qualify to give instruction to the devil and his cohorts.
You are welcome on board friends, today we shall be focusing on how to experience God via His word.
IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE GOD THROUGH HIS WORD WHAT YOU SHOULD DO WITH GOD’S WORDS
N.B: The value you place on the word of God in your heart is crucial in determining how much benefit you will get from it.
- NECESSARY HEART PREPARATION
•It is necessary to process a humble heart and maintain such a humble heart (Mt 5:3,6; Luke 5:4-5; John 2:5)
•This will make God flow to you through His word.
2. HIGH REGARDS FOR GOD’S WORD ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE
•David loved and highly regards God’s word in his life and all his endeavors.
Q. What value do you attach to God’s word in your heart? PLEASE ASK YOURSELF
(Ps 119: 40, 47, 72, 103, 112, 127, 128, 136-167).
3. AN INTENSE AND DESPERATE DESIRE TO KNOW MORE OF HIM
•Desperate desire and passion to know the Lord made the people of old to discover God beyond what others had ever known of Him.
Q. Search your heart: What do you have desperate desire for?
(Matt 5:6, Psalm 42:1-2, Psalm 63:1, Phl 3:8-10. 1 Peter 2:2)
4. YOU MUST HAVE EXCEPTIONAL LOVE FOR GOD (INCOMPARABLE) •When you love the Lord, you will love to hear Him speak to you will obey what He says. •When you love the Lord, you will love to be where He is always.
Q. Do you really love God?
Q. What is the level of your obedience to whatever God says to you?
(Deuteronomy 6:1-9)
5. YOU MUST HAVE A STRONG PASSION AND WILLINGNESS TO OBEY GOD AND MAKE HIM KNOWN TO OTHERS. •It is God’s desire that when He gives you a drink from His word by His spirit you reach out to others. •The more the out-flow from you the more God’s word flows into you.
(Ezra 7:10, Act 5:7-21, Judge 4:4-5, Rom 9:1-3)
6. YOU MUST HAVE STRONG DESIRE TO MAKE PERSONAL SACRIFICE TO STUDY GOD’S WORD
•The Queen of Sheba sacrificed money, time, convenience and also risked her life to hear the word of Solomon (1 Kings 10:1-9)
•Mary of Bethany could go hungry in order to hear God’s word (Luke 10:38-42)
Q. Ask yourself what do you sacrifice as of now to hear and study the word of God?
7. You must esteem the word of God above your necessary food and determine to live by it and then to preach it.
8. You will be fed by the WORD (Matt 4:4, 1 Peter 2:2)
Matt 4:4 says “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out through the mouth of God.”
Jeremiah 15:16 says: “Your words were found and I ate them, and your word became to me the gladness and joy of my heart.
•When we eat physical food, we’re supplied with the nutrients we need to live and be healthy. We get energy to go to work, exercise etc.
•Similarly, when we eat spiritual food we’re supplied with spiritual nutrients to live our Christian life.
•It’s very important therefore that we’re supplied by reading and feeding on God’s word every day.
WHAT THE WORD OF GOD WILL DO TO YOU?
•When the word of God comes to you directly
1.Your profiting will appear to all and you will become a vessel in God’s hands to ignite others.
2. It inject supernatural wisdom: God’s word is the wisdom of God for handling every situation (Ps 119:10-11)
3. When God’s word comes to you directly it delivers you from sinning.
4. It brings total sanctification and transformation (John 17:17)
5. When the word of God comes to you it brings light, illumination, revelations, inspiration that leads to manifestation of glory. Your profiting will appear to all and you will become a vessel in God’s hands to ignite others.
6. The word of God is active and living. The word of God makes your life and destiny active, productive and alive.
7. We are washed in the word (Eph 5:26) Reading the word of God washes us.
HINDRANCE YOU MUST AVOID
1. LAZINESS (Prov 19:15, 24)
2. PROCASTINATION
3. DISTRACTION (2 Samuel 11:1)
·Distraction is something that takes your attention away from what you’re supposed to do or supposed to be doing.
·Distraction is when you’re dragged away from your task.
4. WRONG ASSOCIATION (PROV 13:20) Dan 2:49
·Right association will reinforce your conviction, wrong association will destroy your conviction. ·Association affects conviction, your beliefs and your attitude.
5. COMPROMISE
6. INIQUITIES (Psalm 66:18) •Iniquities weakens your spiritual authority and deprives you of HIS tangible presence.
7. UNGODLY COMPARISON 2 Cor10:12
8. DISOBEDIENCE Eph 2:2, Eph 5:6 ·Disobedience to the voice of the word of God will dull your spirit man and hinders you from experiencing God.
9. OFFENCES LUKE 17:1
·Offence in a man’s heart causes abortion of God’s programme.
·Offences restrict the capacity of your heart by shrinking it.
·Offences makes the heart sick and a sick heart cannot flow with God)
·Offences harden the heart and makes it insensitive to the Holy Spirit.
10. BITTERNESS Acts 8:23, Rom 3:14, Eph 4:31
·Bitterness is like cancer. It eats/feeds on the host.
·Bitterness imprisons life, love releases it.
·It is hardly possible to build anything if frustration, bitterness and a mood of helplessness prevails.
11. UNFORGIVENESS
·A prolonged unforgiveness is a prolonged destruction mindset.
12. LACK OF FOCUS (or Priority)
·It is the lack of focus that stops people from getting what they want in life and destiny.
·If you can focus on the real goal whatever you desired can be achieved.
