Success and victory are two vital ingredients for impact and ministry. There can be no impact in one’s ministry if success and victory are absent.

When success and victory are absent from a man, what remains is emptiness which gives room for darkness.

David is a biblical example of a man that enjoyed success. This was seen in psalm 18:29 [KJV: For by thee I have run through a troop, and by my God have I leaped over a wall]

David enjoyed an absolute victory and success; that is why he was able to say that in the psalmist.

Running a troop is talking about victory. And, to run through a troop, you have to be trained as a soldier to engage in a fight.

To leap over a wall is talking about success. You need strength to leap over a wall.

Paul made reference to David as a successful person because of the impact he made while he was on earth.

There is no human being that does not desire success. Everyone wants to succeed and be victorious in life.

In the discourse of success, there is ORDINARY SUCCESS, and there is GOOD SUCCESS.

Ordinary success is a success that celebrates the brain of man. It is a success that is linked with certification. While good success is a success that celebrates God. It is a success that is linked with the word of God.

A success outside Jesus is a resounding failure. Believers must not envy any unbeliever that seems successful, because it is outside the main point of the scripture, which is Jesus.

Success not rooted in the scriptures is no success because the whole scripture is pointing to only one person, which is Jesus; hence any success outside him is a resounding failure before God.

There are three things that are difficult to define in life:

1. Power

2. Leadership

3. Success

These three things can’t be defined because of the diverse views in which men see them.

What is success?

  1. It exists on your journey towards your goal.
  2. Success is a life of daily progress towards useful service to others – Act 10:38
  3. It is the ability to spend your life in God’s will
  4. It is achieving all that you are created for.
  5. It is leaving the world a bit better than you met it. That is, your impact cannot be denied.
  6. It involves the attainment of your ultimate objectives
  7. It is overcoming setbacks and obstacles.
  8. It is doing your best to become the best you are capable of becoming
  9. It is thinking about yesterday without any regret, and also, thinking about tomorrow without fear.
  10. It is attaining a height when spiritually strong, physically healthy, and mentally free).

CONCLUSION: No weak person can have a weak success. Success is not cheap. You have to work for it.
