TEXT: Luke 13:23-28

The question from our text – “…Lord, are there few that be saved?” was not directed to any preacher or bishop but to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Here was His answer: “Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.”  By implication, many churchgoers today will not make heaven because of their iniquities. The church has been polarized, and it is filled with all forms of sins; and by the account of Jesus, many will end in hell, but by God’s grace, that shall not be your portion.

What are the things to learn from Luke 13:23-28

  1. Few will be saved – Many are moved when they see crowed, whereas they are not worshipping the living God. The crowd is not synonymous to divine acceptance.
  2. Getting to heaven will be very difficult – That was why Jesus said : “Strive to enter..”
  3. There shall be an unexpected disappointment on that day. Luke 13:25 – “... I know you not from whence ye are...”
  4. You can be praised on earth but unknown in heaven.
  5. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

What are the ways out of iniquity?

  1. Remember Ananias and Sapphira. Acts 5:1-11
  2. Depart from iniquity. You need to stop every form of iniquity that is ravaging your life. 2 Tim 2:19.
  3. You must avoid strange alter and strange men of God- John 10:5. You must be able to understand the voice of Jesus in order to discern the voice if the devil
  4. Grow. Psalm 15:1. Growing would make you move from glory to glory. To grow, you must: Walk uprightlyWalk righteouslyHate violence
