You must have heard people ask this question, a couple of times, this sort of question comes up most times when compromise is being sensed.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary; Loyalty implies a faithfulness that is steadfast in the face of any kind of temptation to renounce, desert, or betray.

From time immemorial disloyalty has always brought shame and embarrassment to those who practice it, considering biblical example, Isaiah 14:12-14 talks about how a once-revered being, who fell from grace due to disloyalty, is forever doomed.

Just as there is a typical biblical example of disloyalty and the consequences there is also an example of a man who stood out when it came to the issue of loyalty was the person of  David, by human standards he was greatly wronged by King Saul, to the extent that the king was seeking after his life, even though God had already taken away the kingdom from Saul’s hand and handed it over to David, he didn’t waver in being loyal to the king, he had an opportunity to kill King Saul an opportunity that would have been seen by the modern-day individual as divine providence,  David was loyal to king Saul till the end and he was greatly rewarded for his loyalty, we can see how God fought his battles for him and made him victorious in all things.

Lessons to be learned

  • It pays to be loyal
  • A situation might seem like an opportunity but it’s not in the real sense

Remember, just like the Bible says in Romans 13:1, Loyalty includes obedient to established authorities which inadvertently brings glory and honour to our Father in heaven.
