Moderator: We of course know the season we are in and we know that many, especially guys have been running through the plans and strategies as regards how they will achieve some “goals” this week. We also know that many ladies are beginning to calculate how to get the newest and latest gadgets this season and from whom they’re going to get it this week. With this in mind, we would like to have a word or two from you Sirs and Ma.
Is there anything really worth disturbing ourselves for this season?

Pastor Kayode: To call a spade a spade, we know that we are in the Valentine Season. Now, we know also that we are God’s children; His ambassadors and that we are not subject to the dictates of the world. Having said this, I want to say categorically, that the issue of Valentine and sharing of gifts must be looked at critically as Christians knowing that there is going to be a lot of gift exchange and all but then, you’ve got to be very, very careful as regards the kind of gift you receive and what’s attached to the gift. If the gift is tied to the spirit of what’s in the air, then you’ve got to be wary of it because gifts pervert justice (beclouds judgment) and some of these gifts are snares to our souls.

Pastor Etomi: As our Pastor earlier said, the truth of the matter is this – we should draw caution. The world isn’t what’s leading us rather, it’s God’s spirit that leads us (Rom. 8:14). So while those in the world are celebrating whatever they are celebrating, we celebrate Christ. This isn’t the time to get deceived. Don’t even venture into “celebrating it the holy way” as is the practice of some Christians. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians, “Don’t be ignorant of his devices.” Also, worldly festivities like this come to renew bondages in people’s lives and before one can say Jack Robinson, people have a perverted view of what love is. 1 Corinthians 13 has described what love is and not a particular day or week.

Pastor Oyinda: To add to the aforesaid, we are expected to love as said in 1 Cor. 13. Everything has been laid down perfectly. I do not think what Valentine preaches is in consonance with the Bible. Most of the time, it focuses on lust.

Exodus 23:8 says:
“For the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous”

So, anything that would not make you speak against what is bad. Anything that would make you compromise, simply say NO to it and save yourself the headache in future.

Moderator: I have three guys seeking for my hand in marriage. I told a Pastor to pray about it and he said the three of them are good. Put in mind that this pastor often speaks in a worldly manner. The problem is that the guy I love the most, isn’t the one my mum likes because I only met him in December. It happens that I do not like the guy she wants me to marry but I just want to obey her. The guy I love isn’t financially buoyant but I believe the tides will turn. My mum simply objects. I am confused. Please help.

Pastor Kayode: I think the issue of the pastor should be out of the way as he doesn‘t sound genuine. Also, I should ask …
